SME Fund: Get grants to register your IP rights
On Monday 3 February, the EUIPO SME Fund opened once again
The fund provides financial support for small and medium-sized companies to register IP rights.
Under this scheme, it is possible to apply for grants of up to EUR 700 for trade mark and design applications and up to EUR 3,500 for patent applications.
In order to apply for a grant, the company must fulfil the official EU definition of an SME. SMEs are defined as companies with a turnover of less than EUR 50 million and fewer than 250 employees.
Grants are awarded in the form of vouchers, which are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, if you want to protect your IP rights at a reduced cost, you need to act fast.
Support for trade mark and design applications:
If you have a trade mark or design that you want to protect, you can receive up to EUR 700 in funding. The subsidy covers 75% of the fee for a Danish or European trade mark/design application. If the application is outside the EU, the subsidy covers 50% of the fee.
Support for patent applications:
For a patent application, it is possible to receive up to EUR 3,500 in support, which covers between 50-75% of the fees for counselling, preparation and filing of Danish and European applications.
The scheme is thus an obvious opportunity to obtain or strengthen the protection of your IP rights.
