Fee Increases at the Danish Patent and Trademark Office
A new bill will increase fees significantly for a wide range of services provided by the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO).
The bill has been presented by the Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Morten Bødskov on behalf of DKPTO, and is expected to be approved in mid-December. The new fees will therefore come into effect from 1 January 2026.
The proposal introduces a general 20% increase on a wide range of fees, covering fees associated with patents, trademarks, designs and utility models. The increases will apply to all types of services — including filings, oppositions, annuities and renewals.
According to the DKPTO, most fees have not been adjusted since 2002. The office states that the current fee levels “no longer reflect the requirements placed upon us”, citing new demands for digital customer solutions, enhanced IT security, and rising operational costs
